Job summary

Beanfield Technologies Inc. is seeking a Telecommunications - Equipment Installer (Facilities Operator) to install and maintain telecom equipment at Beanfield sites, including data centres and central offices. The role covers fiber, power systems, and critical infrastructure within equipment offices.

You will perform turn-ups, testing, and routine maintenance, ensuring compliance with engineering blueprints and MOPs. A valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 50 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/college degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years of central office equipment installation experience.
• Strong understanding of telecommunication and data centre Quality Standards.
• Experience with fiber optic cable and AC/DC power installation/testing.

Responsibilities

• Route, terminate, and label AC/DC power cables and fiber optic cables across facility spaces.

The Role

The Telecommunications - Equipment Installer (Facilities Operator) is responsible for the installation and maintenance of telecommunication equipment at a variety of Beanfield equipment locations. This includes fibre, transport equipment and all critical infrastructures within these equipment offices. This role will provide high-quality service in these technical spaces including data centres, telephone switch centres, central office wire centres, and designated enterprise spaces.

What You’ll Do

• Hardware Operations: Install, modify, and decommission telecom facility equipment, including cable trays, telco racks, cabinets, servers, switches, routers, fuse panels, and telco-grade battery systems.
• Cabling & Power: Measure, route, terminate, and label AC/DC power cables, fibre optic cables, and wires across facility infrastructure spaces.
• System Turn-Up: Execute test-and-turn-up procedures and integrate new network hardware into live production environments.

Technical Quality & Troubleshooting

• Technical Compliance: Read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, system specifications, and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
• Testing & Validation: Conduct system performance testing for hardware and software to evaluate efficiency, reliability, and integration compatibility.
• Critical Power & Backup Systems: Maintain and test -48V DC power plants, rectifier systems, battery banks, UPS units, and emergency standby generators. Perform routine load testing and fuel management.
• Environmental & Facility Controls: Monitor HVAC, CRAC units, and temperature/humidity control systems within active switching and server rooms. Conduct routine inspections of fire suppression systems and physical facility integrity.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, power, and connectivity issues as they arise.
• Quality Assurance: Perform in-process and post-installation quality validation audits to ensure strict adherence to industry standards.

Operations:

• Maintain complete operational documentation, including daily status reports, project logs, and administrative records.
• Perform other facility operations duties as required.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent required, technical or college degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years of central office equipment installation experience
• Clear understanding of telecommunication and data centre Quality Standards
• Background in fiber optic cable and AC/DC power installation and testing practices
• Proficient use of Microsoft programs, IOS and/or Android applications.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Strong mechanical aptitude including usage of basic power tools.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to write routine reports and documentation.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and proof of insurance
• Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift over 50 lbs.
• Physical demands of the job: must be able to: sit, stand, stoop, crouch, climb throughout the shift.
• Overtime and Weekend work may be required based on business need.

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. The salary range indicated includes a Short Term Incentive Plan (“STIP”) which represents a percentage of your Base Salary based on the achievement of individual and corporate objectives; The STIP payment is calculated based on a formula that takes into account several factors, including, without limitation, corporate and individual performance measures. The STIP payment is conditional upon meeting all of the STIP’s eligibility requirements.
