Job summary

Paradigm Electronics is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to support general building and property upkeep at our Ontario facility. The role collaborates with the Facilities Supervisor to complete scheduled and preventative maintenance and to respond quickly to maintenance tickets and emergencies.

The position requires a diploma or equivalent, strong trades knowledge across HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and related tasks, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Maintenance Technician diploma or equivalent required.
  • Electrician license preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in general building maintenance.
  • Strong trades knowledge (HVAC, painting, carpentry, drywall, electrical, plumbing).
  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work varied shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance with Facilities Supervisor.
  • Use CMMS to respond to tickets and recommend repairs.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections and address emergencies.
  • Assemble and install equipment including gravity conveyors and platforms.
  • Maintain building exterior and grounds and perform repairs.
  • Manage recycling operations across facility zones.
  • Perform rooftop HVAC inspections and servicing.
  • Respond promptly to equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Complete training and personal development as required.
  • Uphold safety, compliance, and company policies.
  • Seasonal maintenance such as snow removal and lawn care.
  • Maintain cleanliness of Maintenance department.

Job Overview:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will report directly to the Facilities Supervisor. The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be responsible for general building and property maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Facilities Supervisor to complete scheduled and preventative maintenance.
  • Utilize the computerized maintenance management system to respond to maintenance tickets and recommend repairs.
  • Conduct monthly maintenance and safety inspections, responding immediately to emergency situations as they arise.
  • Assemble and install equipment such as gravity conveyors, platforms, and other types of material handling equipment including office furniture.
  • Complete daily inspection and cleanup of building perimeter and grounds, including general repairs.
  • Manage daily recycling operations by collecting and compacting cardboard and plastic throughout various facility zones.
  • Perform routine rooftop inspections and servicing of HVAC equipment.
  • Timely respond to reports of equipment issues to minimize downtime and impact to the operation.
  • As assigned, complete technical training, personal development and team-building exercises.
  • Basic routine and preventative maintenance repair as problems arise including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, drywall repair, painting.
  • Maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the Maintenance department.
  • Seasonal facility maintenance may include snow and ice removal, lawn mowing and trimming.
  • Reporting hazards and injuries immediately.
  • Following all legislative requirements and internal standards, policies, and procedures while upholding the company’s core values.
  • Other relevant and related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Maintenance Technician diploma or equivalent.
  • Electrician License is preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in general building maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of trades (HVAC, painting, carpentry, drywall, electrical, plumbing) is required, along with knowledge of preventative and demand maintenance.
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools.
  • Physical ability to repeatedly lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs., as well as stand, bend, kneel, climb, and stretch for long periods of time.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask, work proactively and reliably, and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, decision-making abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
