Job summary

Ice River Sustainable Solutions in Lachute, QC, is seeking a Maintenance Technician/Electromechanic to keep high-speed production equipment running safely. You will troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, read diagrams, and perform preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of mechanical experience in packaging or manufacturing.
• Solid mechanical knowledge and ability to read diagrams.
• Experience with preventive maintenance software.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with change.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety and lockout procedures.
• Team-oriented with problem-solving skills.
• Willing to assist all departments as required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using drawings.
• Read plans and diagrams to determine next steps.
• Participate in implementing improvement projects.
• Repair, install, align, disassemble and move equipment/production lines.
• Adjust machines and replace defective parts; service the machine.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance of production assets.
• Detect irregularities and malfunctions to maintain operations.

Position Summary

Maintenance technician is a critical role and is crucial for the overall productivity of organizations. The technicians' expertise in equipment and facility maintenance ensures that operations run smoothly, efficiently, and safely in the execution of mechanical work to keep various high-speed production equipment in good working order. Maintain, repair and modify existing and new equipment, including the manufacture of simple parts. Follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to protect personal safety, company property, the environment, and the safety of team members.

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics and engineering drawings.
• Read plans, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine how to proceed.
• Participate in the implementation of various improvement projects.
• Repair, install, align, disassemble and move equipment/production lines.
• Adjust machines and repair or replace defective parts.
• Clean, lubricate and service the machine.
• The maintenance mechanic ensures the operation and maintenance (predictive and preventive) of production equipment and assets and detects irregularities and malfunctions.

Education/Skills/Experience:

• 3-5 years of mechanical experience preferred, in a packaging or manufacturing environment.
• Possess solid mechanical knowledge.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams correctly.
• Experience working with preventive maintenance software.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a lot of change.
• Excellent knowledge of health and safety and lockout procedures.
• Strong team player with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Have a positive willingness to assist all departments as required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• The service technician must stand; bending, kneeling, squatting or crawling. Frequent walks, including going up and down stairs and ladders, and bending over are necessary.
• It may be necessary to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Working conditions in some areas can be wet, slippery and noisy.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time, able to squat, bend and kneel, as well as able to lift heavy loads and carry.
• May involve exposure to extreme temperatures, moisture, noise, dust, fumes, or hazardous materials.
• PPE, such as helmets, safety glasses, gloves, or respiratory protection, may be required.

Pay Rate: $30.77 – 40.31/hr – depending on certification and experience
