Job summary

COMPASS GROUP CANADA is seeking an experienced facilities and operations leader to supervise janitorial, maintenance, grounds, and subcontractor activities across a commercial or institutional facility. The role requires strong budgeting discipline, safety program oversight, and continuous process improvement.

You will manage budgets, lead staff, and coordinate procurement and project execution, ensuring compliance with regulations and high performance standards.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in engineering, business administration, or property management, or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years of supervision in a commercial/institutional facility.
• Broad facilities management knowledge: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, safety, IT, and project management.

Responsibilities

• Supervise janitorial, maintenance, and grounds services.
• Coordinate procurement and sub-contractor services; schedule installations and ensure safe, timely repairs.
• Ensure safety regulations and programs are implemented.
• Manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and take corrective action.
• Provide leadership and guidance; hire, assign, train, and evaluate staff.
• Monitor operations and processes for quality and efficiency; recommend improvements.
• Develop and review project plans; assess feasibility of proposals.
• Ensure compliance with all codes and regulations.
• Oversee financial reporting, forecasting, and budget adherence.
• Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships; handle bids and awards.
• Develop long-term plans to optimize operations and asset management.
• Read and interpret safety, maintenance docs, CAD drawings, schedules, and manuals.
• Communicate effectively with staff and customers; uphold professional image.
• Lead environmental and energy initiatives; monitor KPI expectations.
• Oversee life safety and quality management; manage O&M budget.
• Support organizational objectives and action plans; drive revenue and service improvements.
