Job summary

Fleetway Inc. is seeking an Export Compliance Advisor to help ensure compliance with export controls, CGP, and other regulatory frameworks across Canada’s marine and defence sectors.

You will assess compliance requirements, identify risks, and strengthen internal processes while enabling business growth. Collaboration with Programs, Engineering, IT, HR, Contracts, and Business Development is essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in a related field is required or considered with equivalent experience.
• Experience with export controls, trade compliance, CGP, and security obligations is preferred.
• Ability to interpret regulatory and contractual requirements and translate them into practical processes.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret regulatory, security, trade, and contractual requirements for bids and proposals.
• Provide guidance on export controls, CGP requirements, and related compliance frameworks.
• Assess processes to identify compliance risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and maintain compliance frameworks, risk assessments, and mitigation plans.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement practical compliance controls.
• Support business development by assessing compliance during proposals.
• Monitor regulatory changes and advise stakeholders on impacts.
• Contribute to compliance training, audits, and program development.
• Prepare reports and compliance documentation for leadership decisions.

Are you experienced in navigating complex regulatory environments and helping organizations translate compliance requirements into practical business solutions?Fleetway is seeking an Export Compliance Advisor to help ensure compliance with export controls, security requirements, controlled goods regulations, contractual obligations, and other regulatory frameworks that support Canada's marine and defence sectors.In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across the organization, helping assess compliance requirements, identify risks, strengthen internal processes, and support informed business decisions. Responsibilities

• Review and interpret regulatory, security, trade, and contractual requirements associated with bids, proposals, projects, and customer agreements.
• Provide guidance on export controls, trade compliance, Controlled Goods Program (CGP) requirements, security obligations, and other applicable compliance frameworks.
• Assess existing processes and controls to identify compliance risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and maintain compliance frameworks, risk assessments, mitigation plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement practical and sustainable compliance processes and controls.
• Support business development activities by assessing compliance requirements, risks, and operational impacts during proposal development.
• Monitor changes to regulatory and contractual requirements and advise stakeholders on potential impacts to the business.
• Contribute to compliance training, awareness initiatives, audits, and program development activities.
• Prepare reports, recommendations, and compliance-related documentation to support leadership decision-making.

Qualifications

Education

• Diploma or Degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Law, Engineering, Political Science, Public Administration, Security Studies, or a related field.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Experience

• Working knowledge of one or more of the following areas:
  • Export controls
  • Trade compliance
  • Customs compliance
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
  • Supply chain compliance
  • Security compliance
  • Risk management
• Operating within highly regulated industries such as defence, aerospace, marine, manufacturing, technology, telecommunications, government, transportation, logistics, or energy.
• Developing, implementing, supporting, or auditing policies, procedures, programs, and compliance controls.
• Interpreting complex regulatory, contractual, or security requirements and translating them into practical business solutions.

Assets

• Knowledge of ITAR, EAR, Controlled Goods Program (CGP), sanctions, export permits, customs regulations, or similar regulatory frameworks.
• Experience supporting defence, marine, aerospace, or government programs.
• Experience conducting compliance assessments, audits, investigations, or risk analyses.
• Professional certifications or formal training related to trade compliance, export controls, customs, regulatory compliance, risk management, or security.
