Job summary

Castle Rock Enterprises in Whitehorse, Yukon seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate excavators, dozers, loaders, and graders on sewer, water, and civil construction projects. You will perform trenching, backfilling, grading, and site restoration while maintaining strict safety standards and daily equipment checks.

Required 3–5 years of operator experience, valid Canadian license, and reliable transportation to job sites. Housing is not provided; local candidates are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator, preferably on sewer and water projects.
• Proficient in safety procedures, trenching, and site restoration.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators (5–40 tonne), backfill excavators, loaders, dozers (D4–D8) and graders safely and efficiently per plans.
• Maintain safety by protecting workers and equipment and prevent utility strikes near underground utilities.
• Complete daily checklists, conduct safety walk-arounds, and report issues promptly to Foreman.
• Perform trenching, backfilling, grading, pipe-laying support and site restoration with heavy equipment.
• Use GPS dozers, graders and excavators for precision excavation, grading and alignment.
• Balance production goals with workmanship quality and compliance with specifications.
