Job summary

The City of Richmond Museum seeks an Exhibit & Program Coordinator to develop, implement and care for feature and community exhibits. You will manage projects, content development, and communications related to exhibits, fund development, and supervising staff and volunteers.

Under the supervision of the Manager, Museum & Heritage Services, you will build relationships with community partners, coordinate with the Curator and Archives, and promote exhibitions through media while maintaining

Qualifications

  • 2-year post-secondary program in a related discipline; bachelor’s preferred.
  • Experience in exhibit development, design, fabrication and installation.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-year projects and budgets over $100,000.
  • Strong written and interpretive writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Project manage development and installation of exhibits, including schedules and budgets.
  • Research and develop exhibit content and interpretive writing.
  • Collaborate with the Curator and Archives to select artifacts.
  • Work with community partners on community-led exhibits.
  • Maintain museum spaces and coordinate with Facilities on issues.
  • Promote exhibitions via news releases and social media; act as media spokesperson.
  • Recruit and supervise auxiliary staff and volunteers.
  • Coordinate the Richmond Museum oral history program.
  • Collect and interpret museum statistics on attendance and engagement.
