Job summary

Highlight Motor Freight Inc. is seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client in North York, Ontario. The PTA will work under the supervision of a Physiotherapist to help residents implement treatment programs and achieve defined goals.

The position is full-time with schedule TBD. Responsibilities include leading/assisting exercises, documenting progress, aiding transfers, and monitoring health status, with a focus on resident well-being.

Qualifications

• Must be a Physiotherapy Assistant graduate or equivalent.
• Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to communicate well with the elderly, supervisors, and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Assist with conducting group exercises for residents, and/or lead one-on-one exercises with the assigned resident as directed by the Physiotherapist.
• Encourage residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs if appropriate.
• Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session per the Physiotherapist's instructions.
• Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
• Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
• Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack, ultrasound therapy, TENS (electrotherapy), hot wax, etc.
