Job description

Heavy Equipment Operator – Sewer & Site Servicing, Bulk Excavation, Foundation Work

Kieswetter Excavating is a fourth-generation, family-owned heavy civil contractor and one of the Waterloo Region's leaders in excavating, site grading, and site servicing. We work on many of the area's highest-profile projects, and our operation runs on the latest GPS technology — from estimating through machine control — making us a recognized North American leader in technology adoption in our industry.

We're hiring skilled, motivated heavy equipment operators who take pride in their workmanship, their machines, and on-the-job safety. If that's you, we'd like to hear from you.

Why Operators Choose Kieswetter
  • Fourth-generation, family-owned and operated.
  • Best-in-class equipment and GPS/machine-control technology, kept well-maintained.
  • Continuous, year-round work — including winter and spring for the right operators.
  • Real growth: we promote from within.
  • Competitive wages, benefits, and company perks.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of heavy civil applications.
What You'll Do
  • Operate heavy equipment across all functions of the sewer crew — mainline, laterals, dirt moving, and work in congested areas.
  • Interpret grade stakes and execute to grade.
  • Inspect, maintain, and care for assigned equipment.
  • Coordinate with your crew and management, plan ahead, and stay aware of the full scope of the task.
  • Organize project details, locates, and performance objectives.
  • Recognize, communicate, and eliminate hazards in line with our Company Safety Program.
  • Communicate discrepancies promptly and take on other tasks as needed.
What You Bring
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Valid Ontario driver's license.
  • Ability to travel to job sites throughout Waterloo Region (some travel in Southern Ontario).
  • Reliable, consistent attendance and willingness to work regular overtime.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to take direction and work cooperatively.
  • Physical strength and endurance to perform all duties safely.
  • A safety-first mindset.
Schedule
  • Monday to Friday, with overtime and some weekend availability.
  • 10–14-hour days depending on project demands.

Location: Primarily Waterloo Region, with some travel across Southern Ontario.
