Professional Excavators & Construction Inc. in Calgary is seeking an experienced Lead Excavator Operator to manage trenching for water and sewer projects. You will operate excavators, supervise a team, and ensure work aligns with blueprints and safety standards.

The role emphasizes leadership, strict safety compliance, and the ability to read construction drawings while coordinating day-to-day activities to meet project deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience operating excavators on water/sewer projects.
• Proven leadership experience managing a team on excavation sites.
• Strong knowledge of safety protocols and equipment regulations.
• Ability to read construction drawings and project specs.
• Valid Heavy Equipment Operator License preferred.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Operate excavators and other heavy machinery to dig trenches for water and sewer pipelines, ensuring precise alignment and depth.
• Lead a team of excavator operators and laborers, coordinating daily activities and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Conduct pre-operation checks on equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and report any maintenance needs.
• Read and interpret blueprints and project plans to ensure accurate and efficient excavation processes.
• Monitor job site safety and enforce compliance with safety regulations and best practices among team members.
• Assist with the installation and backfilling of pipelines as needed, ensuring proper compaction and restoration of the work site.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and project objectives are met

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in operating excavators, specifically for water and sewer projects.
• Proven leadership abilities with experience managing a team on excavation projects.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations regarding excavation and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications.
• Valid Heavy Equipment Operator License and other relevant certifications are preferred.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor when necessary and work in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required to meet project deadlines
