Job description

Power the examinations that turn students into CPAs.

CPA Ontario is not like other organizations

We operate at a rare intersection, both regulator and membership body, responsible for upholding the integrity of the CPA designation while supporting more than 105,000 members and 19,000 students across the province. Our work sits between business and the public interest, between the evolving demands of industry and the standards that make trust possible.

Careers built here tend to look different because the work itself is different. You are not simply contributing to an organization. You are helping shape a profession that touches nearly every sector of the economy at a moment when expectations, technology, and the nature of work are all being rewritten.

About This Opportunity:

CPA Ontario is currently in search of an Examination Specialist to provide administrative and operational support to the Pre-Certification Education team in the planning, preparation, delivery and reconciliation of CPA Ontario examinations. This role supports examination scheduling and system setup, student communications, documentation, secure examination materials, attendance reporting, post-examination reconciliation and user acceptance testing for examination-related systems.

The role collaborates closely with internal teams, examination staff, contractors, provincial bodies and national examination providers to support the accurate, secure and efficient delivery of examinations across Ontario examination centres. This is a 12-month Contract position.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Coordinate examination scheduling, system setup, and student registrations to ensure candidates are properly assigned and prepared for examinations. Monitor examination data, enrolments, and writer volumes, while resolving issues and coordinating with external partners as needed.
  • Manage examination materials and records to support secure, accurate, and efficient examination delivery. Support examination‑day operations, attendance tracking, and post‑examination reconciliation to ensure all responses and records are complete.
  • Maintain examination documentation and distribute accurate, up‑to‑date information to students, examination staff, and contractors. Provide timely communications and respond to inquiries to ensure stakeholders are well informed and prepared.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for examination planning, delivery, and follow‑up activities. Support software testing, process improvements, issue resolution, and the maintenance of operational resources and procedures.
To Be Successful You Need:
  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience), with 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in operations, event logistics, vendor and contract coordination, or administrative support in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint, with knowledge of Power Apps or similar workflow and data collection tools considered an asset, along with a strong aptitude for and willingness to learn new technologies and examination‑related systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to respond to student, staff and stakeholder inquiries clearly and professionally, and to manage challenging situations with sound judgment, tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong organizational, time management and coordination skills, with a proven ability to work well under pressure, prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines while managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to perform the physical duties associated with examination operations, including frequent lifting and moving of boxes weighing approximately 10 to 50 lbs containing examination materials and supplies, and availability to work outside of regular business hours (some mornings, evenings and weekends).
Salary Range
  • The starting annual salary range for this position is between $66,300 - $82,900 per annum, based on your qualifications, experience, and internal parity. Exceptions may be considered with further review.
Why Join CPA Ontario?
  • We support your well‑being through industry‑leading benefits, mental health resources, savings programs, and a sustainable approach to how work gets done.
  • We are committed to inclusion as a core part of how we operate, not as an afterthought.
  • We have a hybrid working environment, with three days a week on‑site, complemented by 2 days of work‑from‑home time. We are intentional about that: the work we do benefits from being together. We want those days you work from home to be comfortable and offer a one‑time bonus towards a home office when you start.
  • We invest in your growth through learning and professional development opportunities, stretch projects, secondments, and genuine paths for career progression.
  • We move quickly. The pace reflects the profession we serve; it can be demanding, but the work matters, and the team around you is invested in the same outcomes you have.
