Job summary

The Arlington Hotel & River's Edge, part of Carmens Group, is seeking an Event Maître D' for a part-time, permanent role in Paris, Ontario. You will lead the front-of-house during events, ensuring seamless service and guest satisfaction, while coordinating with culinary and service teams to deliver exceptional experiences.

Ideal candidates have banquet or high-volume service experience, strong guest relations, and Smart Serve certification.

Qualifications

• Experience in banquet, catering, restaurant, or high-volume service environments.
• Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with guests and team members.
• Guest-focused mindset with a passion for delivering hospitality excellence.
• Ability to stay composed under fast-paced, high-pressure conditions.
• Smart Serve certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead front-of-house during events, providing direction and coaching.
• Oversee event execution: service flow, room readiness, food quality, timing, guest experience.
• Welcome guests, handle questions, and communicate special requests with culinary/service teams.
• Assist with food and beverage service and other operations to ensure smooth events.
• Adapt to changing event needs with professionalism and attention to detail.

Compensation: $19.00-$20.00 per hour + gratuities

What you will be doing

As an Event Maître D' with Carmens Group, you'll play a key leadership role in delivering exceptional events from start to finish. With a calm, professional, and guest-focused approach, you'll oversee front‑of‑house operations, lead the service team, and ensure every detail is executed seamlessly. Acting as the primary point of contact during events, you will help create memorable experiences that reflect our commitment to hospitality excellence.

Your responsibilities will include

• Leading the front‑of‑house team during events, providing direction, support, and coaching to deliver exceptional guest service
• Overseeing event execution, including service flow, room readiness, food quality and presentation, timing, and overall guest experience
• Welcoming guests, addressing questions or concerns, and communicating special requests, dietary needs, and event details with the culinary and service teams
• Assisting with food and beverage service and supporting operational tasks as needed to ensure events run smoothly
• Adapting to changing event needs with professionalism, sound judgment, and attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment
• Working collaboratively with the event team to continuously enhance operations and deliver memorable experiences for our guests
• Performing additional duties as required to support the successful execution of events

• Smart Serve Certification (Required)
• Valid G License an asset
• Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and event‑based hours
• A positive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed
