Job summary

Pembina Trails School Division is seeking a Temporary Assistant Caretaker at General Byng School in Winnipeg. The role supports the Head Caretaker by performing routine cleaning, basic maintenance, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment after school hours from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Start date October 5, 2026, with assignment continuing until the incumbent returns. Candidates should have Grade 12 or equivalent and custodial experience is preferred; English communication,

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent required.
• Custodial experience preferred.
• Strong English reading, writing and speaking skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Lift 20 kg (45 lb) and carry 20 m (60 ft).

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the facility per procedures.
• Clean, dust, disinfect, and sanitize areas and fixtures.
• Maintain custodial equipment and supplies.
• Assist in directing replacement staff and report issues.
• Ensure building security and prepare spaces for events.
