Job summary

Baycrest Hospital is seeking an After Hours Manager to provide leadership for the campus and Apotex Centre during evenings, weekends, and holidays. You will oversee staffing, transfers, and patient-centered care while ensuring policy compliance and fiscal prudence.

Qualifications

• Current membership in a Regulated Health Discipline Professional College in Ontario.
• Bachelor’s degree with a Master’s degree achieved or in progress.
• BCLS certification is current and valid.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership in hospital and long-term care.
• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
• Excellent critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently, exercise judgement and manage priorities.
• Proficiency with Meditech and PointClickCare software.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site Manager and escalation point for operational matters during after hours.
• Oversee hospital and Apotex Centre operations including staffing and transfers.
• Conduct active rounding to ensure care areas follow policy and procedures.
• Authorize staff deployment and reallocation to match needs.
• Promote patient and family-centered care with interprofessional teams.
• Facilitate problem solving, conflict resolution, and staff support.
• Respond to urgent/crisis situations and participate in IMS meetings.
• Ensure compliance with MOHLTC, safety, and accreditation standards.
• Assist with mandated reporting to MOLTC when incidents arise.
• Coordinate documentation for shift handoffs and continuity of care.
• Communicate performance issues and follow up with managers.
• Act as after-hours contact for supplies and outbreak responses.
• Hours include evenings, weekends, holidays; occasional weekdays.
