Job summary

Thermal Systems KWC, a Western Canada-based building envelope and roofing contractor, is seeking a Commercial Construction Estimator to join our Calgary office. This full-time role focuses on preparing takeoffs and initial estimates, supporting the bid team, and collaborating with project management to ensure bid accuracy.

You will analyze drawings, coordinate with clients, and help solicit subcontractor quotes, contributing to competitive, quality proposals for commercial projects.

Qualifications

• Blueprint and specification reading experience or exposure.
• Computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project.
• Proficiency in estimating software (eg. Bluebeam, OST).
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and coordinating full-cost estimates for commercial projects.
• Analyze blueprints and specifications to accurately prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Communicate with clients and participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project scope.
• Collaborate with the project team and other stakeholders to ensure the vision of our projects is maintained.
• Assist in the soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes.

Description

Thermal Systems is a building envelope, daylighting, and roofing maintenance, industrial insulation sub-contractor operating across Western Canada. We are searching for a Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team.

This is a full time position working from the Calgary office. The estimator's primary responsibilities are to provide quality takeoffs and initial estimates on proposed projects and bid proposals. They work with the business development team to prepare bids and review quotations. They provide technical support and collaborate with the project management teams.
