Job summary

Town of Shellbrook is seeking an Equipment Operator/Laborer to handle daily duties maintaining town facilities and equipment. The role reports to the Manager of Municipal Operations and requires teamwork, independent work, and the ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities include operating various town equipment, performing repairs, and maintaining water/sewer lines and testing. Training and skill upgrades are expected, and physical work is required.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Valid Class 3 driver’s license with air endorsement or willingness to obtain within 1st year of employment.
• Current driver’s abstract required.
• Certification in water and wastewater treatment and collections or willingness to obtain within 1st year of employment.
• Experience operating equipment would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate town equipment and assist with equipment maintenance and recreation equipment.
• Perform street and road repair and maintenance.
• Maintain water and sewer lines; conduct water and wastewater testing, maintenance and repair.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs of equipment as required or requested.
• Participate in training sessions and upgrade skills if/where required, and meet physical demands of duties.

Job description

Equipment Operator/Laborer is responsible to complete the day-to-day duties associated with keeping the Town of Shellbrook and Town owned facilities attractive and in good order.

The Equipment Operator/Laborer shall reports to the Manager of Municipal Operations.

Essential Skill requirements include the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, working as a team and independently, as well as to understand and execute instructions provided. You will perform general maintenance and repairs of equipment as required or requested.

You will participate in, and successfully complete training sessions, and be willing to upgrade skills if or where required. This position requires you to be able to physically complete assigned duties.

In this position you will operate various town equipment, assist with equipment maintenance, including recreation equipment. You will provide street and road repair and maintenance, water and sewer line maintenance, and water and wastewater testing, maintenance, and repair.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Grade 12 Education or Equivalent.
• Valid Class 3 Drivers License with air endorsement or be willing to obtain this within 1st year of employment
• Current drivers abstract required.
• Certification in water and wastewater treatment and collections or willingness to obtain within 1st year of employment
• Experience Operating Equipment would be an asset.
