Job summary

Waste Connections of Canada is hiring a heavy equipment operator to join our Winnipeg-area team. You will operate equipment safely, perform daily checks, and help maintain our facilities in accordance with OH&S regulations.

The successful candidate will have 1–2 years of equipment operation experience, a Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract, and a safety-conscious attitude. Certification in Heavy Equipment Operation is an asset and a criminal record check will be required.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience operating equipment.
  • Certificate(s) in Heavy Equipment Operation is an asset.
  • General mechanical aptitude/maintenance experience with heavy equipment.
  • Safety conscious and able to work in challenging conditions.
  • Good communication and adaptability.
  • Minimum Class 5 Driver’s License with clean abstract.
  • Criminal record check required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment in a safe and efficient way according to legislation and procedures.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
  • Direct traffic in and around the material delivery areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and policies according to company Safety Manual and OH&S Regulations.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks and report any issues or items of concern found.
  • Clean heavy equipment as scheduled or required.
  • Directing traffic in and around the material delivery areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We Need From You
  • 1-2 years of experience operating equipment.
  • Certificate(s) in Heavy Equipment Operation an asset.
  • General mechanical aptitude/experience in basic daily maintenance of heavy equipment required.
  • Safety conscious, able to work safely in sometimes challenging conditions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to adapt to new situations.
  • Minimum Class 5 Driver’s License required with clear abstract.
  • A criminal record check will be required.
