Job summary

BC Hydro, based in Prince George, seeks an Environmental Risk Manager 1 to lead environmental risk management for major construction projects and guide field teams along the North Coast Transmission Line corridor.

The role requires eight years in environmental work with at least three years in leadership, BC registration eligibility, and the ability to manage on-site teams in remote locations while coordinating with contractors, regulators, and Aboriginal communities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum eight (8) years in environmental field with at least three (3) years in a leadership role.
  • Eligible for professional registration in British Columbia (RPF, RPBio, PEng, PAg, PGeo, or AScT).
  • Experience in environmental risk management for large construction projects in BC (heavy civil earthworks or transmission lines).
  • Experience working on projects involving First Nations participation.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply NCTL project environmental requirements, CEMP, EPPs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with construction and environmental management teams, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical advice, leadership, and instructions to field personnel on environmental issues.
  • Implement and monitor Environmental Protection Plans for Contractors and BC Hydro.
  • Observe and report on compliance of construction activities with environmental requirements.
  • Review, approve, and manage contractor environmental submissions and RFIs.
