Job summary

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) seeks an experienced Manager of Environmental Programs and Compliance to lead a broad portfolio of environmental services, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective service delivery.

You will oversee programs, staff, contractors, and budgets, collaborating with officials, agencies, and the public to advance environmental protection and sustainability within our regional district infrastructure and natural assets.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in environmental management, infrastructure or facility oversight, with at least three (3) years in a leadership capacity in government or public sector.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clear Police Record Check.
  • Certificate in Local Government Management or Local Government Administration is considered an asset.
  • A Registered Professional (e.g., RPBio, PAg, PEng) or eligibility for registration with a relevant professional association.
  • Solid Waste Management Association of North America certification in appropriate disciplines or equivalent training and experience is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for a broad portfolio of Environmental Services programs and service assets.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver programs that support environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and effective service delivery.
  • Guide staff, oversee contractors and consultants, manage budgets, and contribute to departmental plans and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with elected officials, staff, contractors, regulatory agencies, and the public to provide technical expertise, policy analysis, and program leadership.
  • As a member of the Environmental Services management team, contribute to departmental leadership and continuous improvement.
