Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Planner Intern/Co-op to join our Environmental Planning and Permitting team in Markham, Ontario, for a 4- or 8-month term or PEY starting January 2027. You will gain hands‑on experience in environmental planning, permitting, and assessment while supporting projects across Ontario.

You will work with environmental planners, biologists, ecologists, engineers, and project managers to contribute to desktop reviews, permitting support, and field data collection for

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Geography, or related field.
  • Familiarity with GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro or similar mapping applications.
  • Understanding of environmental permitting and regulatory processes in Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with desktop environmental reviews and preliminary site assessments using GIS, mapping tools, aerial imagery, and public databases.
  • Support environmental planning, permitting, and regulatory compliance through research and data collection.
  • Help prepare technical reports, permit applications, environmental assessments, and other project documentation under senior staff guidance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including planners, biologists, engineers, and project managers.
  • Participate in field visits and site assessments to collect environmental data and document site conditions.
