Arcadis is currently seeking to hire an Intermediate Environmental Scientist to join our Resilience Team. This is a full‑time position based in Ontario. The successful candidate will co‑ordinate and execute activities assigned by Project Managers pertaining to the design, coordination and implementation of environmental projects including environmental site assessments, groundwater monitoring and sampling programs, and remediation projects.
Other responsibilities include maintaining knowledge and familiarity with provincial regulatory frameworks, diligent interpretation of environmental data, evaluation of sample results, report writing and participation in various marketing activities (assisting in proposal preparation, obtaining quotations, etc.).
This position will be based in Ontario and will be primarily office‑based however some field work and travel should be expected. Work will primarily comprise of overseeing environmental sampling and assessment programs, project coordination/management at commercial and industrial sites in Ontario (Eastern and North Ontario), Canada and preparation of environmental reports.
Project and team management responsibilities will include preparing proposals, budgets and schedules, participating in business development activities to secure work, managing scope and project tasks, including accountability for project financial results.
The successful candidate will be responsible for communicating with clients and internal stakeholders, and providing technical direction and mentoring of junior staff. The ability to lead and motivate the members of the team, and to establish and maintain client relationships are key components of the role.
The ideal candidate will exhibit strong attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills. Effective time management and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are essential. A valid driver’s licence is required, with compensation provided for work‑related travel. A commitment to health and safety excellence is crucial, along with the ability to work independently in field settings for extended periods, including in remote areas.
