Your impact

Jacobs is currently looking to hire an Environmental Planner to join our dynamic team in a full-time role based out of our Calgary, Alberta office. In this position, you will provide technical leadership and guidance to our environmental planning and permitting teams. Your role involves supporting environmental components of the design, construction, and operations of infrastructure projects in western Canada, interfacing with clients, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, conducting environmental due diligence, and strategic planning. Responsibilities Include
  1. Support environmental planning and permitting throughout the lifecycle of a project, working with a multi-disciplinary team.
  2. Stay current with relevant regulations and ensure project activities align with environmental standards.
  3. Conduct thorough assessments to identify potential environmental impacts and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
  4. Support and oversee the preparation of permit inputs, regulatory filings, and environmental management plans.
  5. Coordinate and provide technical writing support for projects.
  6. Coordinate discipline-specific environmental field studies.
  7. Coordinate and provide technical support for environmental alignment sheets.
  8. Support engagement efforts with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  9. Establish and maintain relationships with members of the public, government and non-government communities, associations, tenure holders, and Indigenous communities.
  10. Develop and expand our client portfolio, including support for Business Development and proposal efforts, in a collaborative manner.
  11. Develop staff through on-the-job mentorship.
  12. Be a Safety Leader for the project and promote Jacobs Beyond Zero and our culture of caring.

Here's what you'll need
  1. Degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, Biology/Ecology, or a related field.
  2. 10+ years of relevant experience in the natural resources sector in Canada, preferably in a consulting environment.
  3. Experience navigating provincial and federal environmental permitting, legislation, and regulatory requirements, primarily in western Canada.
  4. Demonstrated technical writing skills and high attention to detail to provide high-quality deliverables.
  5. Time management skills, with the ability to work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a willingness to be client-facing to grow planning and permitting services.
  7. High initiative, problem-solving skills, and adaptability.
  8. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  9. Strong understanding and consideration for safety.
Ideally, you’ll also have
  1. Experience or knowledge of Indigenous cultural values.
  2. Experience managing projects from planning through construction.
  3. Financial literacy and experience managing budgets and schedules.
  4. Ability to inspire, mentor, motivate, and foster respect among colleagues, building a cohesive work environment.
  5. Interest or experience in Project Management.
  6. Interest or experience in business development.

Posted Salary Range Minimum: $80,500.00

Posted Salary Range Upper: $121,770.00
