KGS Group is an employee‑owned, multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm serving clients across North America and beyond. We are seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our Environment team in Regina or Saskatoon, working with a skilled group of engineers, scientists and technologists on challenging projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
  • 1–2 years of environmental engineering or environmental science experience is an asset.
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer with APEGS and other Canadian provinces.
  • Internally motivated with good organizational skills, routinely takes initiative, handles challenges, prioritizes multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development and willingness to security clearance checks.

Responsibilities

  • Execute environmental programs including site remediation projects, ESAs, hazardous materials assessments, solid waste planning, and monitoring programs.
  • Assist with preparation of materials to respond to RFPs related to environmental work.
  • Prepare deliverables including reports, technical specs, regulatory submissions and cost estimates; coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Participate in health and safety onsite for field projects; coordinate field programs and supervise sub-contractors.
  • Assist in sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water and sediments.
  • Work safely in office and field; fieldwork may occur in all seasonal weather conditions.
  • Willing to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
  • Engage in professional associations and committees.

The Role

We are looking for an Environmental Engineer to join our Environment in our Regina or Saskatoon office . In this role you will primarily assist our environmental team and work directly with our existing environmental team. You will be working in a collaborative environment with a great team of engineers, scientists and technologists

Key Responsibilities
  • Executing a variety of environmental programs including site remediation projects, environmental site assessments (ESAs), hazardous materials assessments, solid waste planning, ongoing monitoring programs, hydrogeological studies, and others as required
  • Assist with preparation of material to respond to Request to Proposals related to environmental work
  • Preparation of deliverable components including, but not limited to, reports technical specifications, regulatory submissions and cost estimates as well as working collaboratively with other disciplines to execute project deliverables
  • Participate in health and safety onsite for field projects, assist in coordinating field programs, complete sub-contractor oversight and participate in field teams
  • Assist in sample collection of soil, groundwater, surface water and sediments
  • Safely perform work in the office and field; fieldwork may occur in all seasonal weather conditions, using equipment and operating vehicles on behalf of the company
  • Willing and able to work extended hours, when needed, to meet deadlines
  • Active participation in professional associations and committees
About You
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering from a recognized university
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in environmental engineering or environmental science is an asset
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer with APEGS as well as other Canadian provinces
  • Internally motivated with good organizational skills, routinely takes initiative, handles challenges, prioritizes multiple tasks, and provides superior service to clients
  • Demonstrates a commitment to personal and professional career development
  • Familiarity with environmental risk and mitigation is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability/willingness to undergo security clearance checks
