KGS Group in Winnipeg, MB is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to lead hydrogeology projects from proposal to delivery. You will work with field teams, project managers and department leaders to ensure quality planning, execution and documentation of groundwater studies.

Qualifications

  • Post-graduate degree in Hydrogeology/Geology (MEng, MSc, PhD) desirable.
  • Eligible for professional engineer or geoscientist registration in MB/SK/AB.

The Role

In this role you will have a key role in developing and delivering hydrogeology projects from the proposal stage through final delivery. Working directly with all levels of environmental staff, from field teams to other Project Managers, Senior Staff, and Department Management as required, you will participate in design, day-to-day project work, take on project management responsibilities and provide technical input and guidance on proposals, field investigation plans, system designs, tender document preparation, contract administration, and troubleshooting. You will serve as a technical resource to ensure quality planning, execution, and documentation for hydrogeology work, sometimes collaborating with teams from multiple offices.


Key Responsibilities


  • Assessment, design and control of groundwater systems related to groundwater supply, geothermal, contaminant assessment remediation, hydrogeochemistry and construction dewatering/depressurization

  • Executing multiple hydrogeological projects from the proposal stage through completion. Projects will include a variety of small to large projects involving environmental, solid waste, geotechnical, flood control and hydroelectric sectors

  • Support physical hydrogeology components for local and regional projects, including technical contributions and preparation of reports

  • Frequent and active interaction with local and regional teams of groundwater professionals

  • Travel to project sites as needed depending on project/client requirements

  • Working collaboratively with other disciplines to execute project deliverables, as well as ensuring that quality objectives, schedules and budgets are met

  • Collaborating with and mentoring junior staff


About You

To fill the role, we're looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experiences. Some highlights could include:



  • 5+ years of technical experience

  • A post-graduate degree (M.Eng., M.Sc. and/or Ph.D.) in Hydrogeology/Geology, or a related field, is desirable

  • Preference to be registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer or geoscientist in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and/or Calgary, as well as other Canadian provinces

  • Previous consulting experience is preferred

  • Strong organization and planning skills; strong data analysis and technical writing skills. Ability to present information concisely and clearly. Focus on quality and technical excellence

  • Candidate must have prior pertinent experience working collaboratively and co-operatively with team members

  • Demonstrates a commitment to personal and professional career development

  • Experience with well test analyses in a variety of applications and geological settings using industry-standard software including FEFLOW, Visual MODFLOW, AQTESOLV, and AQUACHEM

  • Experience with hydrogeological projects surrounding mining operations, such as aquifer depressurization and dewatering, injection and disposal and mine pit inflows is an asset

  • Experience with groundwater monitoring programs for regulatory purposes, large-scale environmental impact assessments, and well licencing applications is an asset

  • Previous field experience involving hydrogeological assessments, including drilling, hydraulic testing and design for applications such as well field layout and optimization is an asset

  • Experience working with Indigenous clients is an asset

  • Ability to travel to sites as needed

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability/willingness to undergo security clearance checks
