Environmental Site Inspector
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Site Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting daily site inspections, ensuring compliance with environmental standards, and coordinating with construction teams to implement environmental mitigation measures.
- Conduct daily site inspections to assess compliance and prepare technical reports according to the Environmental Management System, maintaining a detailed field log.
- Ensure the implementation of erosion, sediment controls, and other environmental mitigation measures on site.
- Identify and document environmental deficiencies, communicate findings with photographic evidence, and collaborate with the construction team for resolution.
- Assist in environmental construction operations and reporting requirements related to the environmental management system.
- Supervise and coordinate activities with subcontractors.
- Support the environmental manager in addressing issues outlined in environmental management plans and legislative requirements, including obtaining permits and approvals.
- Manage spill reporting and oversee cleanup supervision.
- Communicate any construction-related environmental concerns to the Environmental Manager as per the environmental management plans.
- Collect soil and water samples for laboratory analysis for environmental quality monitoring.
- Coordinate with various disciplines and consultants internally.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong documentation management and planning skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of multitasking.
- Minimum of 5 years experience as an environmental engineer or in a related role, preferably in engineering or construction industries.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in environmental science or engineering.
- Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC) is an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and outdoors under various weather conditions.
- Proficiency with relevant software applications.
- Knowledge of project documentation, engineering terminology, and applicable environmental laws such as the Environmental Protection Act.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a valid G2 or G driver’s license.
