This position is based in Canada, and will be 80% or more Work from Home, with up to 20% travel required. Candidate should have access to an airport.

This position will support the health, safety, security and environment lead in managing the environmental management program. The successful candidate will support compliance program management, auditing, reporting, incident management, program development and implementation, hazard identification, and training programs.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Research and monitor regulatory standards, industry best practices, and provide advice for environmental matters.
  • Manage document control and maintain hazardous materials management inventory system.
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory bodies (e.g., halocarbon release reports, PCB destruction reports, spill response reports).
  • Liaise with regulators and maintain legal registries.
  • Review and monitor vendor documentation.
  • Manage communication, inspections, and orders from regulatory bodies for client properties.
  • Develop and implement audit plans and track non-conformity and corrective measures.
  • Participate in location audits and prepare audit reports.
  • Prepare and update monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental reporting for the client.
  • Coordinate remedial action and document corrective actions for incidents impacting the environment.
  • Ensure required reporting to environmental authorities is completed for incidents.
  • Maintain and update the Environmental Management System (EMS) following ISO14001.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of EHS programs.
  • Review program documentation for compliance and provide recommendations.
  • Conduct hazard assessments and participate in annual internal reviews.
  • Coordinate and plan environmental projects with the project management team.
  • Notify the client of planned projects with significant adverse environmental impacts.
  • Ensure team members have completed required training and maintain a training database.
  • Assess existing courses for compliance with legislation.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • A degree in environmental sciences or relevant field
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the implementation and management of Environmental programs and management systems, preferably within facility operations
  • A proven track record managing regulatory compliance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a proven record in both interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Bilingualism in French and English is preferred
