Grimsby Power is located in the Town of Grimsby, on the western edge of the Region of Niagara. It serves over 12,000 customers and is committed to providing an economical, safe, and reliable energy supply to the community.

We are seeking an Engineering Technician capable of designing distribution infrastructure, including all projects and connections. This role provides technical and informational support to our utility's customers and their agents, including estimating project costs, preparing specifications, evaluating transformers, conducting site inspections, testing equipment, and creating computer-aided drafts. The position covers both Engineering and Metering design and implementation.

If you are organized, detail-oriented, results-focused, and interested in designing distribution and station projects using computer applications, this position may be suitable for you.

The successful candidate will meet the following minimum qualifications:

  1. A minimum of two years’ experience in an electrical engineering discipline involving design, construction, and commissioning of electrical equipment.
  2. In-depth knowledge of design standards and regulations related to electrical equipment.
  3. Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office and AutoCAD.
  4. Experience with ArcGIS (ArcMap and GISPRO).
  5. Experience with distribution system modeling software (DESS preferred).
  6. Knowledge of protection, control, and distribution automation is an asset.
  7. Experience in the utility industry is an asset.

Education and licensing requirements include:

  1. Diploma in Electrical Engineering (2 or 3 years).
  2. Certified Engineering Technician (CET).
  3. Valid Class G driver’s license with a clean abstract.
  4. Post-secondary or continuing education courses are an asset.
