Job summary

PCL Constructors Canada Inc. is seeking an Engineering Student for the Halifax project within the Canadian Buildings Division. The role supports the QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Program, with 4 or 8 months starting in September 2026.

You will gain hands-on experience in a complex mega project, coordinating drawings, quantity takeoffs, and field documentation while working in a collaborative team. A strong interest in construction and basic drafting proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Strong desire to work in a construction environment.
• Prior field construction experience is an asset.
• Applicant should be proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software and basic drafting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate drawings, scope/trades, and quantity verification; assist with deficiency walks.
• Participate in project meetings and update deficiency logs.
• Take progress photos and update field drawings for as-built documentation.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and coordinate sub-trade work under supervision.
• Verify site conditions and coordinate with drawings; layout site lines and grades using total station.
• Obtain scheduling information from sub-trades and help update project schedules.

The QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Program (HIEP) is a 1.2 million square foot expansion of the Province of Nova Scotia’s existing QEII campus, being completed under a complex P3 contract structure. PCL Constructors Canada Inc. is collaborating with multiple partners from across the country to undertake the single largest healthcare infrastructure project considered in Nova Scotia. We are seeking an Engineering Student, for ourToronto District, working inHalifax, within our Canadian Buildings Division that are available for 4 or 8 months starting in September 2026.

As anEngineering Studentyou will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

Responsibilities

• Coordinating drawings,work specific scope / trades,trade quote reviews – verify material quantities, verify hours, verify rates, deficiency walks etc
• Participating in project meetings,
• Inputting / Updating deficiency logs and issuing warranties
• Taking / Coordinating progress photos, and updating field drawings
• Producing as-built drawings
• Performing quantity takeoffs, coordinatingand supervising sub-trade work and
• Verifying site conditions and coordinating with drawings
• Layout site lines and grades using total station
• Obtaining scheduling information from sub-trades and updating project schedules

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.
