Job summary

Job description

  • Electrical design of medium voltage and low voltage power distribution equipment, including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC / DC schematics, equipment layouts, and communication systems.
  • Design protection & control systems for power distribution equipment and control panels including drawings noted above.
  • Prepare and submit project documentation including :
  • Operation and maintenance manuals
  • Testing and commissioning reports
  • Change order requests
  • Other related equipment and project documentation
  • Organize and participate in design review and project meetings with both internal and external clients
  • Specify and select electrical equipment and services, prepare data sheets, prepare RFQs, review quotations, select and interface with vendors, prepare purchase orders
  • Understand and coordinate the completion of power system studies including but not limited to :
  • Load flow, Short Circuit, Coordination, Arc Flash, Ground Grid Analysis
  • Manage and interface with internal Prime departments including but not limited to :
  • Mechanical Design
  • Assembly & Fabrication
  • Field Service
  • Manage and schedule projects in conjunction with colleagues' and clients' needs and demands
  • Occasional technical report writing
  • Create electrical protection relay settings, occasionally required to perform testing
  • Occasionally required to perform on-site commissioning and testing of electrical installations
  • Troubleshoot protection and control systems both in office and occasionally on-site
  • Occasionally may be required to carry out inspections, field reviews, and witness testing of electrical equipment as required

Required Experience and Qualifications :

  • Electrical engineering degree or diploma or other applicable certification
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng)
  • At least 8 years of related experience in project management and power distribution
  • Excellent knowledge of three phase power systems
  • Knowledge of CEC and IEEE standards
  • Excellent knowledge of power distribution, switchgear, generation, and substations
  • Willing and able to work out of town as needed
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License & clean driver's abstract
  • Must be legally entitled to work within Canada

Additional Information

Travel : some travel

Compensation : Compensation for this role will range from $130,000.00 to $145,000.00.
