Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced Intermediate Project Controller to join our Energy & Resources team in Canada. The role focuses on cost baselines, earned value management, and forecasts across engineering, procurement, and construction projects.

The successful candidate will advise project managers, identify cost risks and opportunities, and support informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. Strong cost management and EVM skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in a related field.
• 5–8 years of project controls experience on medium-to-large projects.
• Experience in Energy & Resources sectors (mining, power, renewables, infrastructure).
• Advanced proficiency with MS Excel and cost management tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and control project cost baselines from concept through execution and project closeout.
• Establish WBS, CBS, and control accounts aligned with project execution strategies.
• Track commitments, actuals, accruals, and expenditures against approved budgets.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineering leads, procurement teams, construction managers, contractors, and clients to ensure cost data accuracy and integrity.
• Validate cost baselines and ensure they reflect project scope and delivery requirements.
• Prepare cost forecasts, EAC, and ETC analyses based on performance and forward-looking assumptions.
