Competency-based training is an approach to teaching and learning used in the development of concrete skills and is an alternative to more traditional educational approaches. It helps eligible clients learn and develop the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for, find and maintain employment. Topics may include basic life skills, essential work skills, and short-term occupational training, and can be delivered to a group or one-on-one.
The role involves working directly with clients to establish potential employment opportunities, providing job matching, and negotiating job terms with employers. The incumbent will also facilitate training sessions and workshops on essential work skills and basic life skills, as well as provide support in the resource centre and at various community events.
As a member of our strong and caring team, you will make a difference at the personal and community level by ensuring WorkBC clients achieve their employment goals and receive the best support possible.
