Job summary

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police – Indigenous, Provincial, Territorial and Municipal Policing (IPTMP) is seeking an experienced candidate for an indeterminate position requiring English Essential language proficiency and Enhanced Reliability Status with Secret security clearance. A pool may be established for similar RCMP roles with varying linguistic profiles and clearances.

Applicants must meet education and operational experience requirements, including recent tactical training instruction

Qualifications

  • Education: A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.
  • Experience: Recent operational and instructional experience in tactical training with JTF2 or similar units, planning and leading complex activities.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of training/coaching techniques, range safety and incident reporting.
  • Abilities: Ability to plan and deliver multiple training activities with competing priorities, and to communicate effectively.
  • Personal suitability: Interpersonal skills, initiative, judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and coordinate tactical training programs and logistics.
  • Instruct and coach law enforcement personnel in specialized areas.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to meet training needs.

Intent of the process
The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with an English Essential language profile and an Enhanced Reliability Status with Secret security clearance. A pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

RCMP Enhanced Reliability with Secret security clearanceAll applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.In accordance with the Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) Directive on Security Screening, effective January 6, 2025, Canadian citizenship is a requirement for a Top Secret clearance. Operational Requirements

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Willingness and ability to perform physically demanding duties, including job simulation exercises while wearing full tactical equipment exceeding 50 lbs

  • Willingness and ability to work irregular hours and overtime as required

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently in support of national training requirements

EDUCATION:


A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives


EXPERIENCE:



  • Recent operational and instructional experience with Joint Task Force 2 (JTF2 – S1 classification)

  • Recent operational and instructional experience within the modernized RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) program

  • Recent experience planning, coordinating, leading or instructing complex tactical training activities within a law enforcement or special operations military environment

  • Experience providing adult learning-based instruction, facilitation or coaching to law enforcement or military personnel

  • Recent experience delivering tactical firearms instruction, including pistol and either carbine or precision rifle platforms, in live-fire or controlled training environments

  • Recent experience operationally applying at least three (3) of the following tactical disciplines:

    • Sniper / precision marksmanship

    • Close quarters battle (modernized CQB)

    • Mechanical, ballistic or explosive breaching

    • Special reconnaissance / rural surveillance

    • Tactical maritime or marine operations

    • Aircraft intervention

    • Range Safety Officer duties (including steel target operations)

    • Tactical combat casualty care

    • Close protection operations

    • High angle / rappel operations



Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the past five (5) years.


KNOWLEDGE:



  • Knowledge of remedial training and performance coaching techniques applicable to tactical, firearms or high-risk operational training

  • Knowledge of advanced range safety practices, risk mitigation principles and incident reporting requirements in live-fire and simulated training environments


ABILITIES:



  • Ability to plan, coordinate and deliver multiple training activities and logistical components while responding effectively to competing priorities

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing
