Job summary

Northland School Division is seeking an Elementary Teacher for J.F. Dion School. The position involves delivering the Alberta curriculum to students in kindergarten to grade 6 at the Fishing Lake Métis Settlement, located 52 kilometres south of Cold Lake.

Qualifications

  • Must hold or qualify for Alberta teaching certification and a Teaching Quality Standard certificate.
  • Must hold a Bachelor of Education (BEd.) degree.
  • Successful years of teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.

Responsibilities

  • Following the prescribed program of studies for each subject taught.
  • Plan and execute daily lessons based on short, medium and long range planning.
  • Provide feedback to students and parents in a regular, timely manner.
  • Champion Cree language/culture revitalization and curriculum infusion.
  • Support school-parent-community engagement.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and commit to collaborative-decision making.
  • Promote differentiated instruction to meet diversity in learning needs.
