Job summary

Northland School Division is seeking a Substitute Teacher for Hillview School in the 2024-2025 school year. The position supports kindergarten to grade 6 learners at Hillview, located in East Prairie Métis Settlement, near High Prairie, Alberta.

The role requires Alberta teaching certification and a BEd, with experience in rural or Indigenous communities. There is potential for a continuous contract for successful applicants.

Qualifications

• Must hold Alberta teaching certification and a Teaching Quality Standard certificate.
• Bachelor of Education (BEd.) degree.
• Successful years of teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.

• Following the prescribed program of studies for each subject taught.
• Plan and execute daily lessons based on short, medium and long range planning.
• Provide feedback to students and parents in a regular, timely manner.
• Champion Cree language/culture revitalization and curriculum infusion.
• Support school-parent-community engagement.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills and commit to collaborative-decision making.
• Promote differentiated instruction to meet diversity in learning needs.

Northland School Division is seeking Substitute Teachers at Hillview School for the 2024-2025 school year. The kindergarten to grade 6 school is located in the East Prairie Métis Settlement, one of only eight legislated Métis land bases with Métis governments established in Northern Alberta, Canada, and protected by legislation.
