Job summary

GDI Ainsworth is seeking an Electrician Apprentice (1st to 4th Year) in Winnipeg, MB, on-site. Assist Journeyman with installation of electrical control systems in new and existing buildings, including retrofit projects in construction environments.

Responsibilities include reading drawings and diagrams, installing conduits, pulling wire, and troubleshooting faults while adhering to health and safety policies. Must have Manitoba apprenticeship status and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Indentured apprenticeship in Manitoba (1st–4th Year) with conduit experience.
• Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new and existing installations.
• Cut, bend, thread and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings.
• Pull wire through conduits and ceiling spaces.
• Install, replace and repair electrical control equipment such as relays, temperature sensors, actuators and panels.
• Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems, remove and replace faulty components.
• Splice, join and connect wire to components to form complete control systems.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Perform tasks with minimal supervision and in accordance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by government legislation/regulations.
• Participate in out-of-town projects and be available for after-hours work as required.
