Job summary

GDI Ainsworth in Winnipeg, MB is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join our fast-paced service and small projects team for Winnipeg and the surrounding area.

The role involves completing daily service calls and small projects, reading drawings, wiring control/BAS systems, fire alarms, refrigeration electrical work, and EV charging installations.

Candidates should have 5+ years of commercial experience, strong communication, and the ability to work safely with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrician with 5+ years of Commercial experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology and the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Experience with Fire Alarms is an asset.
  • Ability to read and draw simple electrical sketches and schematics.
  • Excellent command of the English Language, both written and oral.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to execute precision work.
  • Strong work ethic and communication skills.
  • Commercial/Construction installations experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and pass security clearances once hired.
  • Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Performing new installations and repair work on electrical equipment and wiring.
  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new and existing installations.
  • Cut, bend, thread and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings.
  • Pull wire through conduits, walls and ceiling spaces.
  • Splice, join and connect wire to components to form complete control systems.
  • Troubleshooting, analyzing, repairs, reconditioning and re-installing electrical equipment including HVAC, refrigeration systems and various BAS applications.
  • Experience working with electrical and electronic testing equipment.
  • Reporting on and recommending improvements to electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Developing and managing work orders, logs, and other documentation accurately and on time.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision and in accordance with Ainsworth Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations.
  • Some after hours and weekend work will be required.

Job Summary:
