Job summary

GDI Ainsworth in Manitoba is seeking an apprentice electrician to assist journeyman with installing electrical control systems in new and existing buildings. You will work in a construction environment with potential heights and hazardous materials, following safety policies.

The role requires an indentured Manitoba apprenticeship (2nd–4th year), a high school diploma or GED, ability to read drawings, knowledge of electrical theory, and good English communication.

Qualifications

  • Must be in Manitoba indentured apprenticeship (2nd-4th year) with conduit experience.
  • High School diploma, diploma, or GED equivalent from a certified college.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology.
  • Experience with HVAC, building electrical systems and VFDs an asset.
  • Ability to read and draw simple electrical sketches and schematics.
  • Excellent command of the English Language, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new and existing installations.
  • Cut, bend, thread and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings.
  • Pull wire through conduits and ceiling spaces.
  • Install, replace and repair electrical control equipment such as relays, temperature sensors, actuators and panels.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems, remove and replace faulty components.
  • Splice, join and connect wire to components to form complete control systems.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by government legislation and regulations.
  • Participate in out-of-town projects and be available for after-hours work as required.

Job Summary

Assist Journeyman with installation of electrical control systems in new and existing buildings including retro fit projects in a construction environment. Working conditions may include restricted movement, dirty environments, hazardous materials, moderate physical duties and working at heights.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Main skill required, indentured apprenticeship in Manitoba (2nd or 3rd or 4th Year) with conduit experience
  • High School degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent qualification from a certified college
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology
  • Experience with HVAC, building electrical systems and VFDs' an asset
  • Ability to read and draw simple electrical sketches and schematics
  • Excellent command of the English Language, both written and oral
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to execute precision work
  • Commercial/ Construction installations experience
  • Class 5 driver's license and clean driver's abstract
