Qualifications

Electrical Systems Designer/Technologist

Northland Properties' Construction & Design Team is seeking an Electrical Systems Designer/Technologist to support our expanding Hotel, Restaurant and Resorts brands.

Duties

As the Electrical Designer/Technologist, you'll be an integral part of our Design Team, responsible for preparing and coordinating electrical and lighting system designs for various new and renovation projects for our hotels, restaurants, and resorts. Your duties will include:

  • Prepare electrical and lighting designs, construction drawings, and specifications for all project phases.
  • Develop electrical and lighting drawing packages for development and building permit submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with current electrical system building bylaws and codes.
  • Perform and review electrical and lighting load calculations.
  • Create electrical and lighting equipment schedules.
  • Review and provide input on shop drawings, RFIs, and other construction change requests.
  • Coordinate service requirements/connections with utility and municipal agencies.
  • Communicate and coordinate with project teams, including design and technical consultants.
  • Work with external engineers and technicians to review redline drawings and coordinate with external consultants.
  • Coordinate electrical and lighting requirements with other project departments.
What are we looking for?
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in electrical and lighting building system design as an Electrical Technologist.
  • Additional experience with mid-sized multi-family residential, hotel, and restaurant construction projects is an asset.
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and lighting layouts.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit is an asset.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proactive attitude, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
