Job summary

Arup in Toronto is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern for January to April 2027 to gain hands-on experience in power distribution design, lighting controls, grounding, and lightning protection for buildings and infrastructure projects.

You will work with Revit MEP, perform short circuit studies, photometric calculations, and contribute to technical reports while collaborating with teams and vendors to learn and grow in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) or bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering (BSAE).
• Curiosity about the electrical engineering industry with emphasis on the power side of the field.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.
• Skills in planning and coordinating.
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas clearly, both in person and in writing.
• Independent initiative, creative problem‑solving, eagerness to learn, and teamwork.
• Eligible to work in Canada without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Design power distribution, lighting controls, grounding, and lightning protection systems for buildings and infrastructure projects.
• Perform short circuit, overcurrent coordination, load, and arc flash studies.
• Conduct lighting photometric calculations.
• Assign circuitry for power and lighting devices.
• Write technical reports.
• Work on projects using Revit MEP.
• Contribute to development of reports and electrical calculations.
• Collaborate with teams and vendors to learn about new subjects.
• Attend meetings and participate in discussions with other teams and architects.
