Job summary

Arup is a global consultancy guiding and designing the future of the built environment. We seek engineering interns to design and analyze decarbonized energy systems, from solar to substations, while learning power system studies and design tools.

You will participate in grounding studies, load flow, arc flash analyses and transmission planning with supervision, while collaborating across disciplines and partners, in a hybrid Toronto-based setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Power Engineering or Renewable Energy.
• Basic knowledge of power systems and energy storage.
• Familiarity with PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, SKM or similar.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; capable of teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze decarbonized energy systems across renewables and transmission.
• Assist design and simulation of electrical power systems with renewables.
• Perform power system studies: short circuit, load flow, arc flash, etc.
• Design solar facilities, substations, and BESS under supervision.
• Conduct grounding, short circuit, cable ampacity, and voltage drop calculations.
• Learn transmission and distribution line design using software like PLS-CADD.
• Help document and organize project data and results.
• Stay updated on industry standards and regulatory requirements.
