Job summary

McCaine Electric in Winnipeg seeks an experienced Electrical Estimator to prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial, institutional, and light industrial projects. You will build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and staff, and contribute to marketing the company’s services.

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will work on site at Winnipeg projects, ensuring accurate takeoffs, tender preparation, and data management while upholding safety, teamwork and professional standards.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years experience as estimator for electrical construction projects.
• 4–8 years hands-on experience with electrical construction projects.
• Certification as electrician’s journeyman or relevant degree or diploma.
• Excellent engineering and technical knowledge of electrical construction.
• Excellent knowledge of industry products, practices and standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD software is an asset.
• Experience with ACCUBID & LiveCount estimating software is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Establish relationships with suppliers, engineers, and contractors and identify new opportunities.
• Prepare electrical budgets and cost estimates from sketches and specifications.
• Coordinate pre-tender site tours and assist in tender strategy and tender closing.
• Set up estimate data in computer programs and review for accuracy.
• Maintain databases for estimating and change orders; train staff on procedures.
