Job summary

A leading energy services provider in Calgary is looking for an Electrical Estimator to create and manage cost estimates for electrical and instrumentation projects. Responsibilities include collaborating with internal teams and clients, reviewing specifications, and ensuring accuracy in budgeting. The ideal candidate should have at least 7 years of experience, relevant educational background, and proficiency in estimation software. Qualifications

  • Typically 7 or more years of related experience.
  • Current Journeyperson Electrician Ticket required.
  • Experience in Electrical and Instrumentation construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and coordinating full cost estimates for projects.
  • Reviewing estimates with internal teams and clients.
  • Managing project scope changes and controlling MOC requirements.
  • Generating budgets and managing change orders.

Job description

CDN is a recognized industry leader in the energy services sector. CDN is a full-service provider with expertise in Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance, renewables/solar, major projects, combustion & emissions reduction, and measurement.

We are looking to hire an Electrical Estimator based out of our Calgary or Edmonton Office.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Creating, Preparing, and Coordinating the preparation of full cost estimates for the Electrical and Instrumentation construction projects.
  • Review Estimates internally with Project Managers, Superintendents and externally with client presentations.
  • Efficiently manage & control MOC requirements & changes in project scopes.
  • Procure the materials to manage various electrical projects.
  • Generate project budgets, manage change orders & close out projects when complete.
  • Reviewing specifications and design drawings to determine the total scope of work to be performed, material requirements and associated costs to be included in the final estimate price.
  • Examining and analyzing estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness of work pricing Preparing bid packages, conceptual estimates and analysis of potential sub-contractor bids for projects.
  • Determining cost recovery strategies.
  • Maintaining files of working documents to be used as backups for estimate figures as well as maintaining current and accurate information on supplier prices, price lists, unit prices and quantity estimates.
  • Collaborating with other estimators, project managers and Procurement Managers and contractors to determine costs related to RFI’s and extra work orders.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Related University degree, college diploma, and/or trade certification and typically 7 or more years of related experience; or combination of formal education and experience.
  • Proficiency with AccuBid, Microsoft Project, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and isometric drawings.
  • Must have a current Journeyperson Electrician Ticket.
