Job summary

Interpro Pipe & Steel Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technologist in Red Deer, Alberta. The role focuses on designing, installing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical machinery, controls and data acquisition systems in an industrial manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities include reading wiring diagrams, troubleshooting circuits, planning procedures, and configuring PLCs/robotic controllers. Strong teamwork and communication are essential, with shift work (days/nights) required.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years working in an industrial manufacturing environment
• Experience with electrical controls, transmitters, valves, drives, temperature, measuring devices and programmable logic controllers and automation software
• Must be willing to work shift work (days and nights)
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Good problem solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, maintain, program, configure and troubleshoot electrical machinery, controls, industrial automation and data acquisition systems.
• Receives and/or prepares wiring diagrams, specifications and instructions for repairs, installation and inspection work.
• Analyzes drawings and wiring diagrams to locate circuits and equipment and determine material needs.
• Plans details or procedures to optimize job execution.
• Locates sources of trouble by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting operation.
• Dismantles, inspects, repairs or replaces faulty parts on motors, generators, panels, breakers and related equipment.
• Programs/configures automation controllers such as PLCs and robotic controllers.

Electrical Engineering Technologist

Job Description and Responsibilities

The primary function of the Electrical Technologist will be to design, install, maintain, program, configure and troubleshoot electrical machinery, controls, industrial automation and data acquisition systems.

The Electrical Technologist responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Receives and/or prepares wiring diagrams, specifications and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repairs, installation and inspection work to be done.

• Analyzes all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment to determine material or replacement needs and to select a logical approach to "trouble shooting" and repair problems.

• Plans details or working procedures to affect the most logical approach to the job.

• Plans and performs work requiring specification codes, properties of various materials, and principle of operation and application of equipment.

• Locates source of trouble of any type of electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for faulty operation.

• Dismantles, inspects, repairs, adjusts or replaces faulty parts and wiring on motors, generators, power distribution and control panels, circuit breaker, rectifiers, electronic devices, etc..

• Replaces coils, resistors, relays and rheostats, etc.

• Programs/Configures automation controllers such as PLCs, robotic controllers, variable frequency drives, DC drives, etc.

Requirements

• Electrical engineering technologist diploma.

• Red Seal Journey Electrician preferred.

• 1-5 years working in an industrial manufacturing environment

• Experience with electrical controls, transmitters, valves, drives, temperature, measuring devices and programmable logic controllers and automation software

• Must be willing to work shift work (days and nights)

• Strong communication skills

• Ability to work in a team environment

• Good problem solving and analytical skills.
