Job summary

Primero’s Electrical Engineer will design electrical distribution and control systems for mineral processing plants, under the supervision of the Chief E&I Engineer. This permanent full-time role is based in Montreal and serves the North American presence with a reporting line to the Lead E&I Engineer.

Responsibilities include creating schematics, load lists, specifications and vendor liaison, with site support during construction and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience in electrical design.
• Registered (or candidate) for the P.Eng license with PEO.
• Experience with low and medium voltage systems (transformers, switchgear/MCC, VFDs, generators).
• Experience with PLC instrumentation and control systems is an advantage.
• Proficiency in ETAP, AutoCAD; knowledge of CEC/IEC codes.

Responsibilities

• Develop single line, schematic and termination diagrams.
• Develop electrical load lists, equipment lists, cable schedules and material take-offs.
• Develop specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment, instruments and control systems.
• Research and evaluate electrical products, equipment, and systems to meet project requirements.
• Provide site support during construction and commissioning phases.
• Coordinate with vendors, clients, draftspersons and engineers throughout design activities.
