Primero’s Electrical Engineer will design electrical distribution and control systems for mineral processing plants, under the supervision of the Chief E&I Engineer. This permanent full-time role is based in Montreal and serves the North American presence with a reporting line to the Lead E&I Engineer.

Responsibilities include creating schematics, load lists, specifications and vendor liaison, with site support during construction and commissioning.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience in electrical design.
• Registered (or candidate) for the P.Eng license with PEO.
• Experience with low and medium voltage systems (transformers, switchgear/MCC, VFDs, generators).
• Experience with PLC instrumentation and control systems is an advantage.
• Proficiency in ETAP, AutoCAD; knowledge of CEC/IEC codes.

Primero’s team is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer.

This is a unique opportunity to join our talented team and be part of Primero's growth and success. Primero is a company founded in Australia, established and growing rapidly in Montreal since 2016. We expanded into Houston in 2022, Toronto in 2023, and Salt Lake City in 2026 strengthening our North American presence. We specialize in the design, procurement, and construction management of mineral processing plants

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of electrical distribution and control systems under the supervision of the Chief E&I Engineer. You will support the Electricity and Instrumentation (E&I) service through the different phases of each project: feasibility, design, construction and commissioning. This is a permanent full-time position operating out of our Montreal – Canada office and reporting to the Lead E&IC Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop single line, schematic and termination diagrams.
• Develop electrical load lists, equipment lists, cable schedules and material take-offs.
• Develop specifications and datasheets for the procurement of electrical equipment, instruments and control systems.
• Research, design and evaluate electrical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements by applying knowledge of engineering principles.
• Complete and work in a timely fashion with a diligent attitude, while focusing on safety during work and safety in designs.
• Liaise with vendors, clients, draftspersons, interdisciplinary engineers (process, structural, mechanical, etc.) and other key stakeholders for the duration of design activities.
• Provide site support during construction and commissioning project phases.
• Provide direction to draftspersons during design activities to ensure drawing output meets engineering requirements.

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering;
• Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in electrical design;
• Registered (or candidate) for the P. Eng license with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO);
• Experience with low and medium voltage systems is an asset; specify transformers, switchgear/MCC, VFDs and generators.
• Experience with PLC instrumentation and control systems is an advantage.
• Expertise with ETAP, familiarity with AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of CEC and IEC codes.
• Experience in the mining or oil/gas industry with on-site work during construction and commissioning.
• Ability to develop equipment specifications, electrical equipment lists and other deliverables
• Ability to develop and understand electrical engineering calculations.
• Possess a high level of analytical ability used to solve complex problems.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiar with the management philosophy and organizational structure of the company.
• Provide assistance, as needed or as directed, to deliver a quality product on time and on budget.
• Ability to read and interpret design drawings, schematics and other engineering drawings.
• Proficiency in Windows XP, Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
