Job summary

Gerrits Engineering Limited in Barrie is seeking an Electrical Drafter/Designer to join a collaborative design team. You will produce detailed electrical drawings and specifications under the guidance of engineers and project managers.

Hybrid work schedule, a 37.5-hour week, and a comprehensive benefits package support your professional growth. The role requires 0-3 years of drafting experience and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Engineering Technology.
• 0-3 years of experience in a drafting/designer role.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit.
• Understanding of relevant industry codes and standards and municipal by-laws.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to produce detailed design documents.
• Create plans, drawings, and specifications using industry software.
• Ensure designs adhere to GEL principles, client requirements, and codes.
• Perform engineering calculations as needed.
• Spend time on design work at a computer with occasional site visits.
• Complete mandatory health & safety training and security clearances if required.

Sounds awesome, but what would you be doing in this role?

The Drafter/Designer collaborates with engineers, project managers, and others to produce detaileddesign documents and with the project before and throughoutthe construction phase.

Usingvarious industry software, they play a critical role in creating plans,drawings, and specifications ensuring all designs adhere to GEL design principles, client requirements, and any relevant codes and standards. They will performvarious engineering calculations.

Receiving directionfrom the Design Manager and/or the Engineer, the Drafter/Designer will utilize their design and communication skills to assistteam in meeting project milestones.

The Drafter/Designer will spend most of theirtime on their computer completing design work but will also perform site visitsindependently and/or with their team members.

Mandatory Health & Safetytraining will be required for this role along with Security Clearances ifdeemed necessary by project.
