Job summary

Gerrits Engineering Limited is seeking an Electrical Drafter/Designer to join our Barrie team. The role involves producing detailed design drawings and specifications in collaboration with engineers and project managers, ensuring adherence to codes and GEL design principles.

The Drafter/Designer will work primarily at a computer on design tasks, with occasional site visits and opportunities for professional development within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Engineering Technology.
• 0-3 years of experience in a drafting/designer role.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit.
• Understanding of relevant industry codes and standards and municipal by-laws.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed design drawings and specifications with engineers and project managers.
• Collaborate with the project team before and during construction phases.
• Perform design calculations and ensure adherence to codes and GEL design principles.
• Occasionally perform site visits to support design and field verification.

Sounds awesome, but what would you be doing in this role?

The Drafter/Designer collaborates with engineers, project managers, and others to produce detaileddesign documents and with the project before and throughoutthe construction phase.

Usingvarious industry software, they play a critical role in creating plans,drawings, and specifications ensuring all designs adhere to GEL design principles, client requirements, and any relevant codes and standards. They will perform various engineering calculations.

Receiving directionfrom the Design Manager and/or the Engineer, the Drafter/Designer will utilize their design and communication skills to assistteam in meeting project milestones.

The Drafter/Designer will spend most of theirtime on their computer completing design work but will also perform site visitsindependently and/or with their team members.

Mandatory Health & Safetytraining will be required for this role along with Security Clearances ifdeemed necessary by project.
