Job summary

Modine Manufacturing Company in Calgary seeks an Electrical Assembler for the day shift (6:00am-2:30pm, Mon-Fri) at 2234 Portland St SE. You will install electrical components into HVAC units, wire terminations, and build panels while following drawings and safety policies.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a noisy environment are essential. Qualifications include Grade 12, ability to lift 50 lbs, and experience with hand/power tools.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Must demonstrate organizational skills and work independently.
  • Must exhibit safe work practices.
  • Must be willing to work OT on weekdays and weekends when required.
  • Previous manufacturing experience is an asset.
  • Effective communication with coworkers, leads, supervisors, engineering, quality and safety.
  • Comfortable in loud environments with hearing protection.
  • Steel toed boots (CSA approved) required.
  • Engineering and sheet metal principles understood.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools (drills, grinders, chop saws, band saws, tape).
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics and BOMs.
  • Ability to plan and execute jobs successfully.
  • Experience bending/installing rigid and EMT pipe; pipe fill and wire size knowledge is an asset.
  • Ability to mount panels, VFDs, filters and devices; install tubing and devices.
  • Experience prepping and installing lights, pulling and terminating wire.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of engineering and electrical principles.
  • HVAC knowledge or experience is an asset.
  • Safety: respirator use requirements; comply with fit-testing rules.

  • Perform continuity checks on panels.
  • Maintain tools and PM schedules.

Position Description

Scott Springfield by Modine is tier-1 supplier that offers scalable air handling solutions for commercial and industrial customers across North America. SSM has garnered a hard-earned reputation for customer service, quality and reliability. To support its growth and expansion, SSM is looking to add an Electrical Assembler to the Production team.

This is a Day Shift Position from 6:00am-2:30pm Monday-Friday
This role will be based at our 2234 Portland St SE location in Calgary Alberta.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the installation of electrical components into HVAC units by:
  • Mount electrical components, route cables, and wire termination of components.
  • Review electrical drawings, cut sheets, and termination sheets to ensure all electrical connections are secure and correctly installed.
  • Interpret Wiring schematics
  • Detail oriented and knows to follow part and component details
  • Monitor production schedule and report anything that may impact schedule either in a positive or negative way
  • Request parts from warehouse
  • Build panels, terminate wiring in panels and print wire tags for electrical department
  • Ensure quality standards and procedures are met and followed
  • Ensure safety policies are met and followed
  • Support continuous improvement efforts
  • Perform continuity checks on panels
  • Maintain tools, and tool PM sheets
  • Employee is responsible to perform the above mentioned, and any other tasks assigned to them in a safe manner and in accordance with our Health & Safety Policies, JHA’s & SWP’s.
  • Employee is responsible to understand and follow all Company Policies and Rules.
Required Education & Qualifications
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must demonstrate organizational skills and be able to work independently.
  • Must exhibit safe work practices.
  • Must be willing to work in other areas of our facility as required.
  • Must be able work OT on weekdays and weekends when required.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment an asset
  • Must be able to communicate effective with Co-Workers, Team Leads, Supervisors, Engineering, Quality and Health & Safety.

  • Safety Requirement – Respirator Use: This position may involve tasks requiring the use of a respirator. In accordance with occupational health and safety standards, all employees must be clean-shaven where the respirator seals to the face to ensure proper fit and protection. Compliance with this requirement is mandatory for employment in this role.
