Job summary

Surepoint in Nisku, AB is seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Estimator to prepare full-cost estimates for bids, including materials and labor, by analyzing supplier quotes and subcontractor data. You will read blueprints, coordinate with internal stakeholders, and ensure timely, accurate bid packages while maintaining organized estimate files and contributing to bid strategy discussions.

The role requires a Journeyman Electrician or instrumentation background, at least two years

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrician or instrumentation background.
  • Minimum 2 years estimating experience.
  • Experience with Accubid is an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Outstanding organization and time management.
  • Collaborative with team members and clients.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Able to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate allowances for indirect costs, design unknowns, escalation and contingency.
  • Present estimates and conduct review meetings with internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope and contents of estimate.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimates.
  • Participate in bid strategy discussions and project kickoffs/closeouts.
  • Collaborate to determine costs related to RFIs and change orders.
  • Review final estimate packages prior to submission.

Job description

Surepoint is currently seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Estimator to join our team in Nisku, AB. The Estimator will be responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of full-cost estimates, including materials and labor. This will include collecting and analyzing quotes from suppliers and subcontractors during the bidding process to obtain the complete bid package pricing and qualification information.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Create and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost electrical and instrumentation estimates.
  • Prepare materials, labor and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully carry out a project according to proposals, plans, estimates and specifications.
  • Analyze bid packages to ensure completeness, accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Evaluate and recommend allowances for indirect costs, design unknowns, escalation and contingency.
  • Present estimates and conduct review meetings with internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimates.
  • Participate in discussions on the bid strategies required for the company to be successful.
  • Review final estimate packages prior to submission.
  • Collaborate with other team members to determine costs related to RFI’s and additional work orders.
  • Participate in project kickoff and project closeout meetings.
What You Need To Succeed
  • Journeyman Electrician or Instrumentation.
  • Minimum 2 years estimating experience
  • Experience with Accubid considered an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (excel, outlook, word, etc.)
