Job summary

Ideal candidates will combine deep instrumentation knowledge with commercial acumen, and will manage multiple complex estimates in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to optimize pricing and execution strategies.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of estimating experience in instrumentation, with a focus on industrial sectors.
• Journeyperson instrumentation ticket is an asset.
• Strong ability to read drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across engineering, procurement, and operations.
• Proven experience leading complex bids and proposals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for material, labour, equipment, subcontractors and indirect costs.
• Review drawings, specs, P&IDs, and bid packages to define scope and execution strategy.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, operations and project management to set assumptions and pricing.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunities; develop mitigation plans.
• Track market trends, labour and material pricing to keep estimates current.
• Prepare bid summaries and client submissions outlining costs, exclusions, and deliverables.
• Support project handover with estimating expertise and cost insights for execution teams.
• Improve estimating processes, tools and practices to drive profitability.

About the Role

Sabre is seeking an experienced Senior Instrumentation Estimator to lead the development of accurate and competitive estimates for instrumentation and control system projects across a variety of industrial sectors.

This role is responsible for evaluating project requirements, analyzing technical documentation, developing detailed cost estimates, and supporting proposal development from bid solicitation through project handoff.

As a key contributor to the business development and project execution teams, the Senior Instrumentation Estimator will work closely with engineering, operations, procurement, and project management to identify risks, optimize pricing strategies, and ensure estimates align with project scope, execution plans, and market conditions.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical instrumentation knowledge with commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and a proven ability to manage multiple complex estimates in a fast-paced environment.

• Prepare bid summaries, proposal documents, and client submissions outlining costs, assumptions, exclusions, and deliverables.
• Support project handover with estimating expertise, scope clarification, and cost insights for execution teams.
• Improve estimating processes, tools, and best practices to support operational excellence and profitable project execution.

What You'll Bring

• 7+ years of estimating experience in instrumentation, with a strong background in industrial, oil & gas, or heavy industrial construction.
• Journeyperson instrumentation ticket or relevant technical background is considered an asset.
